This past weekend we went up to the cabin for a fun getaway! Though our time there was brief, it was filled with some of "our most favorite things" to do while at the cabin.

Just look what the waves washed ashore!
This sea gull flew right over us.

Taking the girls out one by one, we decided, was much safer, though not quite as eventful. Maybe next time they can try it with the sail!

I love this pic, because it's what being up at the cabin means for our family. Togetherness and relaxation......
Fun times on the water......
and on the boat.....

Right before we left on Sunday night, the girls roasted marshmallows and we enjoyed s'mores for dessert.
Chillin' in the hammock before we hit the road.
Thanks, Dad and Mom G., for the fun family time we enjoyed at the cabin! Can't wait for next year!
Saturday morning after breakfast, we ventured out in the heat, along with all the mosquitoes in Michigan :), to repeat what we discovered last year......blueberry picking.
This is at the end of our picking time and instead of picking and dropping in the bucket, the girls were picking and stuffing their mouths (Don't worry, we received the instructions to be sure we ate our fill :) !) Notice the full bucket in the background.....Megan had accidentally tripped over it, knocking out over half of the berries. Alex and the girls painstakingly picked up those spilled berries and refilled the bucket! We still came away with two full buckets!
One of our favorite spots to visit while at the cabin....This is the place where Bass Lake channels into Lake Michigan. Climbing over this final sand dune is always exciting.
A trip into Pentwater was topped off with a visit to House of Flavors, and being creatures of habit, we each order the same ice cream year after year!
Sunday was beautiful once again. We spent the entire day relaxing on the boat or swimming in the lake. Alex decided to take us all out on the sailboat, only without the sail. Just looking at this picture again makes me chuckle. The bottom of the boat was leaking, so Alex is sitting in water and the girls are trying to figure out how it's going to hold all five of us! Leah is saying she's not getting in there and she wouldn't until I got in. We figured it out, though, and rowed away from shore. The water in the bottom of the boat caused it to wobble from side to side with even the slightest movement. I had a hold of Leah's arm, who was sitting behind me, just in case we capsized! I didn't want to lose her under the boat in the event that happened! Our ride was short lived, but it sure made for some laughable memories!
