What's Wrong With This Picture?

The first snowfall of this year was on December 1. The girls were so excited to see the "white stuff" gently falling on that morning. As usual, though, the first snowfall of this season barely amounted to much accumulation.

Today, however, it snowed off and on throughout the day, leaving us with a nice white dusting. The older two girls went to a friend's house after church, so Leah and Daddy enjoyed time out in the snow (what little of it there was =) ). She loved it!

The Final Project

Today wrapped up our study of Zoology. We have thoroughly enjoyed studying about the land creatures God created on Day 6! It was kind of sad to see the study come to an end. The wall mural was also completed today. Below are pics of the final project.

The five who created what's behind them!
From left to right on the mural, it's Megan....Kayla....Luke....
Moriah....and Grace.
And, I can't forget these two....Leah and Reed did a great job either entertaining themselves or each other every week as the others were doing their mural.
Looking forward to next semester when we begin our study of the human body!

A New Team

Megan has joined the home school girls basketball team, the Ft. Wayne Hurricanes. They have been practicing twice a week since September. Tonight was the first game for the JV girls, against Harlan Christian. The JV girls played first, with the Varsity game following. She'll be sporting the number 10 on her uniform this season.

Pre-game warm-ups.Team meeting before the start of the game.
A look so serious!

Such Beauty!

Just look at the sunset tonight! I have seen beautiful sunsets before, but this one comes close to being one of the brightest ~~ with so many brilliant colors! I don't think I ever remember seeing gold, both light and dark violet, as well as shades of oranges and pinks all in one sunset! Absolutely beautiful!!!

Making Progress

We love "Science Fridays" where we come together with other families to review what we have learned. I just love these kids! This is during our break between chapters. We ventured outside to run around a bit.
Their mural is making great progress. Today, more detail was added....
Leah does great keeping herself busy while the older kids are working on the mural.

Parents vs. Team Paragon

Tonight was Team Paragon's final practice of the season. As in the past, a Parents vs. Team game was planned. Team Paragon sported their tan-colored shirts; parents and siblings wore whatever. Trent coached his team, while we parents fended for ourselves! We had to play the position(s) our children played this season, so Alex and I were supposed to play either forward or midfielder.

Heidi, Clint, and Alex prepare to begin.Team Paragon is ready and in their positions..... But first.....Mark, Alex, and Clint need to strategize.
And the game begins......Whoops, Clint, don't forget to take the ball with you :)
The parents. Carla's getting ready to kick the ball.
And....her cherry bomb!
Beau closes in on Alex.
Team Paragon's main goalie for the season, Moriah. She gets her goalie skills from her mama!
Here, she makes a great stop, ending Alex's drive!
Another great stop!
I don't know why, but I really like this picture: It's Megan #4, Grace #5, and Alex.
Grace defends her position.
Parents spent the entire 4th quarter at the offensive end of the field, but Team Paragon held them to el zippo number of goals. Go Team! I played defense this quarter and saw virtually no action!
Final score: 1 to 1, with Team Paragon scoring first. High fives at the end of the game.
The parents and siblings, a/k/a the cheerleaders of the season! We had a tailgate party after the game, and since you can't have a tailgate party without music, Alex and Gavin bring it out. Using a car battery, this cooler is rigged with a radio, antenna, and speakers. Pretty clever!
Friends, Grace and Moriah.
Some of the girls: (Hope, Honor, Megan, Moriah, Grace, and Abrey).
Dinner on the blanket.
What a great night! Thanks, Team Paragon, for an awesome season!

Fall Family Fun

The girls and I went to my parents' over the week of my birthday again this year. Dad finished up with harvest the week before, but that was okay. On my birthday, we went to Peoria to visit my cousin and her kiddos. Here are the 2nd cousins (Leah, Anna, Megs, Grace, and Isaac)
These two are only seven months apart, so hopefully will be good friends like their mamas!
Helen took us out to their house in the country.
We enjoyed the beautiful autumn colors decorating the hills along the Illinois River....Just couldn't resist capturing some photos! On our way home, we stopped off and picked up a cake to later enjoy with ice cream.
