You Never Know...

You never know what a graduation open house might lead to. Well, this afternoon it led to an impromptu field trip! I failed to take my camera along to this open house (silly me:)), but thankfully a friend let me borrow hers. (Thanks, Shar!) So, I was still able to capture the memories!

We have spent the last two weeks between the years of 1914 and 1919, studying World War I. What a thrill it was to walk in the door of the Hoosier Air Museum and see pictures of what we just read about this week! The zeppelin airship was featured just inside the door, as were pictures of navy battleships, airplanes, etc., etc.,

After greeting the graduate and having a bite to eat, we were privileged to experience free admission to the air museum. The only aircraft the kids were allowed to crawl into was this army helicopter.
Since Leah wasn't able to climb up into the aircraft, she simply enjoyed walking around its underside, looking into the telescope lens, and moving it from side to side.

This statue showed us some of the protective gear they would have had to wear during chemical warfare.

The girls were fascinated with this woman pilot. Megan said she couldn't imagine flying a plane, especially during a war.

The timing of this was perfect once again. What a joy it is to be able to experience and learn alongside our children! For that, I feel blessed.
