Take Me Out....

to the ball game,
Take me out to the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker-jacks.
I don't care if I never get back.
For it's root, root, root for the Tin Caps.
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's 1 - 2 - 3 strikes you're out
At the old ball game.

That's the song we sang during the 7th inning stretch of today's Ft. Wayne Tin Caps game against the Beloit Snappers. It was a beautiful afternoon out at the ball park! As a prize from the library's summer reading program, the girls each "read their way" to free tickets. We had perfect seats - just to the 1st base side behind home plate. Along with their free tickets, they also received a free kid's meal (hot dog, chips, and soda) and a Tin Caps folder.

The Tin Caps have a brand new stadium this year right in the heart of downtown Ft. Wayne, so it was exciting to attend at least one home game this season. Some serious onlookers!
This is on the outside deck that goes all around the stadium.
Leah's favorite middle-of-the-inning contest was the water balloon toss, and Megan and Grace both had the same favorite - the Dunkin' Donuts contest (sure wish they had TVs in the restroom :)

Later this evening, we had our own little game of wiffle ball. For the first time, Leah actually showed interest in the game we were playing, and her eagerness to hit the ball was evident. Alex and I were amazed at her little stance, her form, her swing, and the fact that she actually hit the ball! This time up at bat turned out to be a single!
Just look at her concentration!

BTW ~ it's a shame, the Tin Caps lost 3-2.
